Out & About: County Fair

Ahh the county fair. A childhood tradition for as long as I can remember. As a former 4-H member, I can't help but to feel nostalgic as I walk by the teenagers dressed in white as they guide their pig back to it's pen and as I smell the shine spray coming from the show arena.

The fair is truly for all ages. A little something for everyone. From animals to rides, food to drinks, live music to destruction derby. But of course my favorite thing to do is walk through the fair exhibits and petting zoos. That's what its all about anyways, right? Showcasing the county's best and promoting hard work and craftsmanship into a variety of art, food, healthy animals, and so much more.

Fairs range from free to around $10 + Parking. But most offer a free shuttle from a free parking lot that is just a few blocks away.

Check to see if there is a kids club you can join that hands out freebies. Our fair gave each child 4+ a bag with a water bottle, a froyo coupon, a super hero cap, 2 free ride tickets, a coloring book with crayons, and a passport for the kid's to fill out and return to enter into a Legoland drawing

Make sure you look around, there are usually vendors that hand out freebies all around the fair. We got free corndogs and a dental hygiene bag with toothbrush, toothpaste and floss. The CHP were there and handed out their sticker badges and coloring pages. Lastly, we were able to get free fingerprint IDs taken for the kids.

Oh and don't forget to check the fair pamphlet for coupons! We got 4 slushees for the price of 2...SWEET!

They competed in a rodeo-which was HILARIOUS! and so flippin cute!

And of course, a great place for endless photo ops

Go check out your fair this year! And every year!

**but bring lots of water, it can get HOT*
