Distance Learning Planner

With the country starting off the 20-21 school year remotely, I wanted to get a head start on organization and planning so that I was more prepared for the kids to learn at home. I created this home learning planner with pages that I thought were most useful for planning and tracking.

My kids have been in traditional school up until this point so I really didn't have much experience with homeschooling. I enrolled them in a homeschool program through a charter school which will provide the curriculum for my kids. I just need to oversee that the work gets done and keep their work organized. On top of normal homemaking duties, I was a bit overwhelmed at the end of this last school year.

With my Home Learning Planner, I feel more confident heading into another round of distance learning, organized and prepared this time!

Here is what is included in my home learning planner packet:

Daily Schedule

The kids will have different school assignments obviously, but I noticed that it helped if everyone had about the same schedule. Otherwise, one kid would get upset that the other "wasn't doing any work" even though they had already when the other was watching tv. So, my plan is to keep them on the same learning schedule.

Weekly Meal Plan

I want to streamline as many things as I can so my focus can be placed on my children's education. Creating a meal plan for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks ahead of the week will help me shop for what we need and prep beforehand so that when it comes time for meals, I know exactly where to direct them or what I'll have to whip up. No more staring into the fridge and pantry!

Reading Log

I'll have one for each of my kids so I can keep track of their reading progress. I might create a rule that the reading log needs to be completed each day with 30 minutes of reading before they can have their electronics back. (On top, of their school work, of course)

Physical Activity Tracker

I noticed that I slacked off on the physical activity during the distance learning last time around, so I made a log to track down our fitness activity to keep me motivated to get out and move.

Online Resources Log

There were so many different website logins that we had to remember and all the different apps. This page will make it easy to write down all of the username and password details and keep it in your home learning planner for easy access.

Field Trip and Play Date Planner

I'm not sure what the future holds for educational museums and attractions, but I'm hopeful that some things will open up around us so I can plan some field trips to get them out and exploring. As long as I have this precious time with them, why not have fun?? Even if we just find some new parks to explore, petting zoos, or farms-I want to have one field trip a month.

Planning park play dates is important to me too so the kids get a chance to play even if they need to wear their masks while doing so.

We can do this, you guys! We are capable of this!
